When you come all the way to Washington County, Maine, there are a few things that you won’t want to miss.

Wild Blueberry Land

Maine Vacation Rental Cottage
As you drive up Route 1 towards the Machias Bay reason, you’ll see an unusual sight on the right side of the road.  You’ll pass a huge blueberry.  Yup. A blueberry.  Thank blueberry happens to be the home of Wild Blueberry Land, a bakery and gift shop that sells all things…well…blueberry.  Don’t forget to take your selfies!

Fort Knox and the Penobscot Narrows Observatory

penobscot narrows bridge
The observatory (43 floors up) is located on Route one (between Stockton Springs and Bucksport) at the top of the bridge and is open May through October.  During a clear day, visitors can see up to 40 miles, overlooking Maine’s mountains and meadows and ocean islands.

Eastport Fisherman Statue

Eastport Maine
Kind of corny, the statue was originally made as a prop for a short-lived  television show filmed in Eastport.

Bucks Harbor, Machiasport, Maine town pier.

Bucks Harbor
Just the most perfect backdrop for the perfect selfie.  Quintessential Maine.  Pine trees, blue ocean and bobbing fishing boats.
